A Heavy Haul in BeamNG.drive v0.38 steam_community_announcements
Greetings, drivers, and welcome to our heavyweight holiday haul!

Get ready to steel the season’s joy with, not one, but two brand-new vehicles, complimentary props and loads, Italy map expansion, continued user interface revamp, as well as a truck-load of optimizations, fixes, and general improvements.

Hirochi HT-55

First up, meet the Hirochi HT-55 - a haul truck designed for durability and long shifts running up and down the quarry roads.

Built to efficiently handle any hauling predicament you may bring upon it, this rigid-frame off-highway dump truck boasts an impressive 55-ton load capacity, and comes equipped with a hydraulically-powered orbital valve steering and brakes with front lockout options, complete with manually adjustable hill assist.

To top that off, this formidable frame features a variety of optional extras, including locking differential, rock ejectors, and JATO rockets, allowing you to customize it to your heart’s content.

Hirochi WL-40

Next up, we have the Hirochi WL-40 - a large wheel loader with varying lift capacity.

This heavyweight hero is a multi-purpose machine, engineered with lifting capacity and rougher terrain in mind. It captures a unique operational experience through its joystick-controlled, articulated hydraulic steering system, a rigid front axle with a pivoting rear axle, and a functional rimpull control pedal. Capable of lifting and transporting large marble blocks thanks to a versatile front lift arm with a universal bucket and heavy-duty forks. The lineup also includes a hydraulically-operated log grapple attachment for sorting and loading tree logs.

The WL-40 is a particularly perfect partner for the HT-55 when it comes to moving heavy loads, but we’re confident that you’ll have a blast discovering other uses for it too.

Italy Map Expansion

To complement the headliners - the Italy map has been expanded with a new area - the Marble Quarry. This area is designed with heavy machinery gameplay in mind and includes several new missions that will surely challenge your skills.

Alongside the new additions, we’ve also performed a number of optimizations and improvements across all maps. Most notably, as a result of a major behind-the-scenes cleanup, the total file size of maps and their assets has been reduced by about 33%. Additional tweaks include material de-duplication, bug fixes on decalroads, and grounding of some floating trees and rocks that were making a bid for freedom.

New Props and Loads

You didn’t expect us to give you new vehicles and no toys to use them with, did you?

The new Marble Block is a massive, breakable chunk of marble - a compelling contender for putting the new heavy machinery to the test. It comes in 19- and 38-ton variants, with optional wooden supports that make the rocks easier to pick up with the wheel loader.

Accompanying it is the new Rock Pile - an assortment of 100 rocks of varying sizes. They’re an ideal cargo for the dump truck and can be easily picked up with the wheel loader’s bucket.

Several new loads are now available for the Log and Flatbed trailers, and smaller improvements were made to others - in particular, while we kept the full-detail versions of the Container trailer, the default setup has been fitted with a simplified interior to address performance issues.

New Experiences & UI Improvements

As part of the continued user interface revamp, we’re introducing a new Freeroam Session wizard and Gameplay Selector.

The legacy Freeroam selection interface has been replaced with a refined multi-step setup wizard that gives you an opportunity to configure the session as a whole before loading. It utilizes the previously released grid selector to let you define the desired preferences from selectable locations and vehicles, with adjustable options for traffic and time of day, and includes support for saving the last used preset and favorites. The selection steps can be skipped if you wish to load directly into Freeroam.

The new Gameplay Selector makes use of the same system and replaces the old scenarios and campaigns menu. It offers a choice of challenges, scenarios, or campaigns, and also supports shortcuts and preset filters.

We’ve also overhauled and modernized the Input Hints and Messages apps, and applied many smaller optimizations and fixes for other parts of the user interface.

World Editor & Modding

With this release, we’re adding a new tool - the Audio Ribbon Editor. This tool empowers users to easily design dynamic audio zones across the map with immersive, real-time ambient sounds. Ideal for crafting customizable soundscapes for areas such as rivers, forests, canyons, coasts, etc.

Modders can also benefit from the new tools for rally gameplay editing and asset deduplication. Numerous other tools have also undergone general improvements.

Last, but certainly not least, our work on the Launcher continues with some polish and bug fixes to a number of submenus and translations.

As with every update, there’s plenty more under the hood, so make sure to explore the release notes for a full list of additional fixes and tweaks.

Indulge the Luxury in BeamNG.drive v0.37 steam_community_announcements
Hello, drivers, and welcome to our Version 0.37 Fall Update! We've got a bunch of features, improvements, and fixes for you this time. Let's dive in!

Important - User Folder Changes

First up, we have an important announcement regarding changes to the User Folder.

The main thing you need to know is that the default User Folder location has been slightly changed (from appdata/local/BeamNG.drive/0.36/ to appdata/local/BeamNG/BeamNG.drive/current/), but you will be able to open it using the Manage User Folder option from the Launcher, as you've always been able to.

For more information about the changes, the motivation behind it, and what effects it will have, please check this announcement.

New Vehicle - The Limousine by Gavril

Yes, you read that right - the epitome of luxury has finally arrived to BeamNG in the form of the new Gavril Grand Marshal Limousine.

The Gavril Grand Marshal Limousine features a coachbuilt stretch limousine body with classic exterior styling, offering five configurations for every type of explorer, and complete with a luxurious interior that includes fancy lights, a bar, and even a TV!

And if this is not enough - we've also included a number of parts for further customization: the boomerang antenna, bull horns, fender flags, tinted glass, and vinyl roof that will also be available for the standard Grand Marshal body.

Brake Glow

But wait, there's more!

We've added brake glow to all official vehicles with disc brakes!

Check out the shiny new brake glow on your favorite vehicle - just note that this will naturally display better in less-than-full-light conditions.

User Interface Improvements

In the meantime, the UI team has been hard at work to bring our UI into the modern era.

We were finally able to to identify a number of issues that resulted in poor performance and lag across the UI. While we're continuing investigating this further, some of fixes were already implemented in v0.37, and we expect to deliver more soon.

The default Vehicle Selector screen (Menu → Vehicles) has been overhauled and ported over to Vue, with the addition of several new features, UX improvements, and fixes. It now supports controller navigation, allows saving configs as Favorite, has better search and filtering functionality, and brings modern styling with customizable tile sizes. Please note that the updated selector is not yet available within Garage, Time trials, Bus Routes, and Level selection.

We've also done some work on the UI that should improve the initial loading time as well as the time it takes players to load assets such as image previews, with the aim of reducing UI lag for most players. If you still experience performance issues, please let us know in the UI feedback thread.

New & Remastered Props

We've been busy with props as well! Version 0.37 offers several new and remastered props that will undoubtedly bring joy to your inner child.

The brand-new Spike Strip prop comes a choice of 4 different types of spike strips, all equally as capable of puncturing tires of the vehicle daring to cross them. This prop can be carried with the node grabber while in walking mode.

Another newcomer to the lineup is the new Pressure Ball prop. Filled with pressurized gas, it's available in several configurations with selectable gas type (which affects its mass, and in turn the buoyancy), and customizable size, weight, and even paint design.

Next up, we have the new Trampoline prop. Equipped with a ramp slot, and featuring adjustable mat size, frame height, spring strength and rate, this prop is a perfect companion for a broad range of destructive testing.

The Large Spinner has been remastered to bring it in line with the newer props. We've redone the 3D model, materials, and textures from scratch. Several parts of the spinner are now colorable, and we've included a few paint presets to get you started.

The spinner comes with several new variants as well: The two-arm variant has options to attach tow hitches for vehicles or trailers (for destroying them with the awesome power of centrifugal force), as well as a mobile variant that can have either two or four arms and can be attached to a semi-truck like a trailer. Beyond that, the spinner is now powered by an industrial electric motor with realistic performance, which offers lower acceleration but better inertia.

We've also remastered the Large Hamster Wheel prop nearly from scratch with new 3D models, updated physics, materials, and controls. The reworked weight, inertia, air drag, friction and geometry deliver a more realistic behavior to the barrel. And the updated prop is powered by the same industrial motor as the spinner. The new hamster wheel comes in three configurations – powered, unpowered, and barrel-only.

Naturally, this is not all we've been up to with props, several new rally props were included in the lineup as well, and you can see the full list in the release notes below.

Vehicle Improvements

Of course, we've also given some love to other vehicles.

The Ibishu Miramar has gotten new engine meshes and textures, as well as adjustments to gauges and fixes to the behavior of the tail lights.

In addition, the vast majority of the remaining old-format materials that have been missed over the years have now been converted to PBR.

We've also performed a large-scale cleanup of most materials and textures, while applying fixes and improvements where necessary, to ensure that everything is set up properly for modern standards and to keep on top of technical debt.

Have a look at the release notes for the full list of vehicle changes coming in this update.

New Experiences & Freeroam Crawl System

On the gameplay side, we've added the new Freeroam Crawl system. This brand-new system will allow drivers to initiate trail crawl experiences directly from Freeroam, with no mission loading required!

All you need to do is drive to a trailhead and press the on-screen button to activate the trail. Active trails will display small flag markers to show boundaries and checkpoints, and guide your progress.

The scoring system will reward clean driving, and will deduct points for reversing, rollovers, damage, and leaving the boundaries of the trail. At the end of each trail, the game will show you your score, damage, and completion time.

We've added 26 trails in Johnson Valley and 7 in Utah, and some trails start where others begin, allowing you to execute chained trail crawls.

This feature is a work in progress, and we will continue to improve it as time goes on.

To top that off, we've added several new missions. The Very Important Parking is a precision parking challenge starring the new Grand Marshal Limousine. Also, 3 new missions are now available on Gridmap v2, featuring gameplay with the remastered Large Spinner prop. The Villa VIP and Platform Jump missions have been updated.

New & Improved Tools

For the creatives among you, we're happy to reveal that Version 0.37 brings several important changes that should ease the modding and content-creation experience.

First up, the World Editor has received a comprehensive suite of modular spline-based tools for procedural content creation. If map-making is your thing - please check the release notes to learn more.

We've also centralized all shared map assets under the new /assets folder, eliminating duplicates and outdated resources previously found in game/art. This will improve organization, reduce the total game size, and increase asset management efficiency. Additional information can be found in this forum thread.

Vehicle modders should note that we've done a major cleanup of DeformationTriggerRatio across all official vehicles, trailers, and props.

Furthermore, Replay, Camera Path Editor, and Particle Emitter list received a number of quality of life improvements.

Optimization

And last, but certainly not least, we've been working on performance improvements and optimizations, and are happy to be able to bring you a number of changes that should have a noticeable effect on how the game feels to play. Some of these optimizations have been in the works for years, and while there is still more to come we wanted to release what was ready.

This includes storage optimizations - we've managed to decrease the amount of space the game needs by quite a bit, mostly through optimization of level textures. This reduces the memory consumption of Johnson Valley from 2.3Gb to 1.5Gb and West Coast from 190Mb to 150Mb. We've also been working on reducing the amount of RAM the game uses, and we're finally able to show results there, as well as having been able to optimize VRAM usage when running on Vulkan. The changes should increase stability when the game is running in Vulkan. This is still a work in progress, so we would appreciate feedback about your experience with these optimizations.

In addition to all of the above, we've made a host of fixes and improvements to the Track Builder, Flowgraph Editor, Launcher, and a whole lot more.

To see the complete list of changes, check out the patch notes here!

This could manifest itself as incorrect force feedback feel, missing bindings in the Controls menu, inability to save changes for a binding, and others.

Improved how to enable/disable gamepad vibration based on feedback from the community

If you never customized your "Steering" binding on controller, vibration will be active by default.

To modify vibration settings go to Options > Controls > Force Feedback > click your "Steering" binding > Force Feedback Configuration, and then:

• To enable vibration: check Enabled, then setFeedback Type to Gamepad Vibration and Strength to 100 as starting point (adjust to your taste).
• To disable vibration: uncheck Enabled.

Rendering

Fixed crashes when rendering assets that produced errors during loading

Modding

Renamed DO_NOT_INSTALL_MODS_HERE.txt file so it shows up on top when sorting by name in a file explorer

As a reminder, if you're a user who wants to install a normal mod:

• ❌ Do not copy mod files anywhere inside the game install folder
• ❌ Do not copy mod files into /levels, into /vehicles or alike.
• ❌ Do not extract ZIP files, do not copy files outside the ZIP file.
• ❌ For your own security, we advise that you are very wary and do not run .EXE files from 3rd party websites (or are extremely cautious when doing so). Normal mods should be distributed as ZIP files.
• ✔️ Do follow the official mod installation steps.

Installing mods in the wrong place can result in your mods being deleted during updates and integrity checks, the mod manager no longer working correctly, Safe Mode being unable to deactivate mods, and other negative side effects.

If you've never changed the steering setting of your controller, the new vibration will be active by default. If you have changed any settings of the "steering" input binding on the Xbox controller before:To get the new vibration

• Go into "Options" -> "Controls" -> "Vehicle" and select the "Steering" binding of your Xbox controller
• Scroll down to "Force Feedback Configuration" and make sure "Enabled" and "Use gamepad vibration" is checked
• A good starting value for the "Strength" slider is around 100 (this is the new default, and you can adjust it to your liking)

Summertime Shakeup in BeamNG.drive v0.36 steam_community_announcements
Hello, drivers, and welcome to our 0.36 summer update! We're turning up the heat this season with several vehicle refreshes, new missions, and a ton of optimizations.

New School Bus and Armored Truck

“MD-Series was so much fun to make” we thought, “we should show off its full potential!” So in the spirit of innovation and taking advantage of all the Gavril MD platform has to offer, we've added several fun new options to its lineup.

The MD-Series now offers new armored truck and school bus bodies, complete with unique liveries for the armored version - police and bank, as well as prison, off-road, and more for the bus. The bank truck livery also brings several new loads for added realism, while the bus includes various functional gadgets and features.

Ibishu Miramar Refresh

The Ibishu Miramar is receiving a long awaited refresh! We know the community has been excited for a Miramar refresh for ages, and it's finally its time to shine!

The Miramar is getting two new body variants, a coupe and an Ute, as well as new facelift body parts. We've added new left-hand-drive interior parts, and a striped livery for the Ute body. All Miramar body variants are also getting rusted or abandoned liveries for all body variants.

Burnside Special Refresh

Burnside aficionados, rest assured, your beloved Special is also getting a refresh this summer! Coming with several new body variants and liveries, we're glad to finally bring it out of the 50s into 2025.

We're adding new body variants in the refresh - both two-door sedan and sport coupe formats, the latter also offering a chopped version. The refresh also brings a flathead V8 engine option, a rollcage, Gasser exhausts for both OHC and Flathead V8, an I6 engine with new meshes and textures, and a trunk tank for liquids transportation.

In the realm of fixes, we've addressed mesh errors on chopped sedan pillars, refreshed the geometry and textures of the engine variants, and upgraded the headlights bezel materials to PBR.

Gameplay

Moving on to gameplay, we’ve got a couple of new missions for you!

In the Miramar Menace mission, you'll lead police on a thrilling chase through East Coast, USA in your Miramar Ute as you attempt to evade their clutches. Apparently people have been complaining about your wreckless driving, how rude of them. In the Fragile Asset mission, you'll hop into your police interceptor to chase down a thief in a stolen armored bank truck. Be careful not to wreck the truck - those are expensive! And finally, in Johnson Valley, Outback Bangers has you chasing victory in the wasteland. Glory and bragging rights await!

For more general mission-related improvements, we’ve made changes to the Missions Selection Screen, added a new Replay system for several supported missions types, and added new mission and navigation markers, among other changes.

User Interface Improvements

Main menu structure has been overhauled for improved user experience. It's now split into two pages, with the main one dedicated for the new quick-start experiences. The Quick-Start menu provides a convenient shortcut to different gameplay experiences for newcomers and returning players.

The 5 Freeroam Experiences at the top act like presets, to load the level with some vehicles and settings already in place. The 10 challenges are carefully chosen to be an accessible, but also varied sample of over 500 challenges currently available in BeamNG.

Radial Menu has also gotten a number of upgrades. You can now make it your own by reconfiguring the layout and available actions. Additional polish includes overall navigation clean up, and several refreshed icons.

We’ve also taken this opportunity to make a vast number of fixes, changes, and small improvements that should give all our drivers a better experience in the game overall.  These include launcher changes, bug fixes, UI changes, and much, much more.

In the background, we're working on more exciting features - you can expect to hear more in the upcoming devblog.

To see the complete list of changes, check out the patch notes here!

Spring into Action in BeamNG.drive v0.35 steam_community_announcements
Greetings, drivers, and welcome to our first update of 2025!

Version 0.35 shifts into high gear and delivers a long-awaited vehicle remaster, several revamped user interface components, brand-new missions, expanded modding tools lineup, and countless other optimizations, fixes, and quality-of-life improvements.

REMASTERED VEHICLE: Hirochi Sunburst

First up on the vehicle side, we’ve fully remastered the Hirochi Sunburst!

The community has been requesting this one for a while, and we couldn’t be happier to unveil it at last. The makeover comes with a bunch of features, including a Flat-4 drivetrain, a wide variety of both factory and custom configurations, and, finally, that wagon body everyone's been craving for.

The vehicle model has now been revised with increased detail and all-new textures. And to top that off, the lineup also offers a good deal of new customization options, including body kits, interiors, as well as striking new liveries.

Beyond the Sunburst's remaster, we’ve also added new parts, configs, and liveries for a number of other vehicles!

The majority of our vehicles also got slight revisions on suspension, as well as fixes and upgrades to materials, textures, and handling.

3D Mesh Loading Optimizations

In this update, we’ve substantially improved vehicle loading speed by transitioning to a new, optimized .cdae file format. Leveraging cached data and compression to streamline the process, it drastically reduces vehicle loading times while also curbing performance hiccups when swapping parts. Please keep in mind that, as always, this is still ongoing work.

Level Upgrades

As part of the ongoing improvements for West Coast map, we're rolling out another set of updated areas. These include the drag strip and the dirt track area, and a brand new drift track. To complement these changes, a round of optimizations was done to collisions in the city area and the overall drivability around race tracks.

But improvements don't stop there, Hirochi Raceway has gotten a new drag strip area and foliage libraries were updated across several maps.

Gameplay

The Freeroam Drift Zones catalog was expanded with new additions that will put your drifting skills to the test – four in Italy, two in Utah, and one in Automation. We’ve also added a Freeroam Drag Mode to Hirochi Raceway.

Drift enthusiasts can now gain better insights into their performance from the newly implemented Drift Statistics, which can be found inside the Drift Challenge end screen. Additionally, two new Drift UI apps were added - one to show the total score, and another to show information about the current drift.

The scoring system has been revamped, and now features Tiers. The more points accumulated - the higher the Tier. A couple of multipliers received a balancing pass and we’ve improved the crash detection logic. Combos now have a soft cap at 10x and a hard cap at 25x.

Two new missions—Strut Brace Loop and Garage Gauntlet—round out the list of gameplay improvements.

User Interface

Meanwhile, the UI team has been hard at work to bring you a new Radial Menu! The new menu was built from the ground up, and will be replacing the legacy one. Tailored for seamless user experience, it comes equipped with full gamepad support and refined layouts.

Feel free to share your feedback in the dedicated forum thread, we'd love to hear your thoughts!

Vehicle Systems

As part of the development process for the new rally vehicle variants, we are introducing two long-awaited vehicle systems in v0.35.

Anti-lag system (ALS): in turbocharged applications, lifting the throttle pedal will lead to a loss of turbo pressure, and the engine will take longer to respond to later throttle inputs. To prevent this increase in response time under competitive conditions, turbocharged rally cars often feature an ALS. Our air bypass anti-lag system attempts to maintain a defined target turbocharger RPM utilizing delayed combustion events taking place in exhaust manifold combined with an intake bypass valve to further increase the efficiency and control of the system. Our current ALS simulates an automatic arm/disarm logic - it'll kick in when needed, and it will also disarm automatically when it detects that you're no longer pushing hard.

Active center differential: in all-wheel drive vehicles (such as those in our newly introduced top rally category NGRC1) a traditional, passive, center differential can leave a lot of time on the table. In comparison, an active center differential can raise the performance ceiling, while also improving drivability at the limit. This new system takes into account multiple sensors and parameters from the vehicle, and with the help of internal maps, will instantly and continuously tune the behavior of the differential. This allows the differential to adapt to the driver's requests and to the current car attitude. For example, the rear axle can now automatically disengage when pulling the handbrake, progressively lock the differential to extract grip when necessary, and so on.

Modding & Tools

And last, but certainly not least, we got several exciting changes for the modders among you!

Please welcome our new experimental Building Architect Tool. This procedural tool will be able to generate and modify buildings directly in the World Editor. Head over to this documentation article to learn more.

Further updates include several new features for the Biome Tool, a new Roof Crasher Tester prop, changes to the JBeam workflows, and much more.

To see the complete list of changes, check out the patch notes here!

Important update regarding support for Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and Ubuntu 20.04 steam_community_announcements
Dear BeamNG.drive community,

We're committed to continuously improving BeamNG.drive and bringing you the best experience possible. As part of this commitment, we'll soon need to end support for some older operating systems. With BeamNG.drive version 0.35 arriving soon, support for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 will be discontinued. This change affects less than 0.06% of our community.

Additionally, with the upcoming BeamNG.drive version 0.36 later this year, we will also discontinue support for Ubuntu 20.04.

What does this mean for you?

If you're already using Windows 10/11 or Ubuntu 22.04 or newer: there’s no action needed. Your experience will continue seamlessly.

If you're on an older operating system: BeamNG.drive may no longer function properly, and we strongly encourage you to upgrade your operating system as soon as possible.

Why is this necessary?

This change is driven by industry-wide decisions and software requirements beyond our control. Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 between 2020 and 2023. Steam similarly ended their support for these versions in January 2024.

Internally, our software relies on a library created by Google, which has also discontinued support for older Windows versions. Similarly, Canonical's end-of-life for Ubuntu 20.04 in May 2025 means we will follow suit shortly afterward.

We hope you understand that taking these steps is necessary for the future of our sim.

If upgrading to Windows 10 or newer isn't an option for you:

You could continue using an older version of BeamNG.drive. However, please note that you'll miss future updates and content, and Customer Support won't be available for outdated versions.

Select 0.34.2_win7_no_updates in the Betas section (alternatively, if eligible, consider requesting a refund from Steam).

Vintage Ventures in BeamNG.drive v0.34 steam_community_announcements
Season's greetings, drivers, and welcome to the highlights blog for our 0.34 update! This release introduces a highly anticipated new vehicle, expands the selection of vehicle parts, delivers a set of fresh gameplay challenges, as well as numerous fixes and improvements. So follow along while we chaperon you through all the details.

NEW VEHICLE: Bruckell Nine

Headlining this season's lineup is the Bruckell Nine, a highly anticipated pre-war vehicle. Carefully crafted to reflect the era's iconic design and historical authenticity, it's a perfect fusion of vintage sophistication and practical functionality.

The Bruckell Nine is one of our most versatile and refined vehicles to date. With nine different body styles – two coupe options, a sedan, a roadster, two van variants, two pickup styles, and a driver seat on a bodyless frame, it offers extensive customization possibilities.

The vehicle debuts with a heap of customization options that cater to both period-appropriate and modern applications. These include a hot rod and restomod parts, glass tint, and mechanical components. While factory variants retain the unique characteristic quirks and "janky" handling of a 1930s vehicle, modernized configurations bring smoother handling with advanced suspension and wheel upgrades, ideal for racing enthusiasts or those looking to test speed limits.

With this release we're also expanding the lighting system to simulate the gradual illumination of vintage halogen bulbs. This improvement introduces smooth transitions when turning headlights on and off, rather than toggling them instantly. For now, this feature is exclusive to the Nine, complete with a slight dimming effect during engine startup.

New Parts, Tweaks, and Fixes

But the holiday fun doesn't stop there! The Gavril Grand Marshall is getting a new widebody kit called the Slider, paired with a distinctive livery not likely to be seen on a big American sedan, it's tuned to take corners in style. The Drag configuration also benefits from several new aftermarket parts, sound tuning, and fixes for known issues.

For our law enforcement enthusiasts, we've upgraded police configurations across the board! We've expanded options to include police, undercover, emergency beacon lights, light bars, and flashers on vehicles that lacked them. Older police models now include antennas and halogen flashers, and some have gained new interior controls for beacon lights and light bars. The modern light bar now features selectable flash patterns, glass colors and accessories, as well as better optimization.

We didn't stop there - fixes, tweaks, and updates were applied to a variety of vehicles, including Burnside Special, Civetta Scintilla, ETK 800-Series, ETK-I Series, Gavril MD-Series, Roamer, and T-Series, the Ibishu BX-Series, and the Soliad Wendover, among others. Dive into the release notes for the full details!

West Coast, USA Improvements

On the environment side, several areas on West Coast, USA received another round of polish.

The Belasco Motorsports Park has been updated with a revamped parking lot and surroundings, along with a brand-new gravel off-road course adjacent to the track. Additional off-road sections have been introduced near the start of the mainland bridge, along with further optimizations on off-road areas throughout the map.

Bus shelters have been redesigned to better align with the aesthetics of the maps on Italy, West Coast, East Coast, Utah, and Jungle Rock Island. These shelters also feature updated bus route map textures.

Other improvements include memory optimizations and various updates to roads, forest, terrain, decalroads, AI decalroads and collision meshes, and more.

Gameplay

Drift enthusiasts, there's a new way to challenge your skills! No need to commit to a full Drift Challenge - we've added seven Freeroam Drift Zones in West Coast, USA!

As you explore the map, keep an eye out for blue road signs signifying drift zones. Start drifting near a sign to activate the system, which tracks your high scores and sets goals for you to beat. Then, drift all the way to the next sign and rack up points to complete the challenge!

We've also revamped the drift scoring system - instead of being time-based, it's now distance-based, so slower drifts will no longer provide better rewards than faster drifts over the same distance.

For drag racing, we've introduced a new precision-based challenge: Dial Racing. Set your target time before the race starts and aim to get closer to it than your opponent without overshooting. On top of that, we've improved automatic opponent selection and added a history feature which allows you to review past results.

Three new challenges join the missions lineup: Bootleg Runner on Utah, Hotrod Club on East Coast, USA, and Vintage Hauler on Small Island.

Alongside these additions, we've implemented a number of fixes and quality-of-life improvements across the gameplay systems. Most major challenges now have an updated UI with new start, end, and detail screens. The "Move to Start" feature replaces countdowns across many missions, and time-of-day settings can now be customized for select missions.

New in World Editor: Biome Tool

For the map makers among you, we're excited to unveil the new Biome Tool, designed to streamline your workflow. By utilizing mask controls and adjustable parameters, it allows you to populate the map with diverse foliage elements effortlessly. Using the Biome Tool, you can do in minutes what used to take days!

We've also improved the Resource Checker's UI, and added the ability to see how materials are used within the map. And last, but certainly not least, we've added a work in progress edit mode for the Traffic Manager, which will allow you to easily place and control traffic vehicles, props, and signals, complete with save-and-load functionality for your traffic layouts.

Naturally, there's so much more packed into this release than we've covered so far. Other changes include improvements for AI and traffic, reworked electrics handling, new and tweaked sounds, progress on our experimental Linux support, updates for the JBeam debugging and visualization tools, and fixes for a wide range of bugs and crashes.

Haul the Harvest in BeamNG.drive v0.33 steam_community_announcements
As the days grow shorter and the weather colder, we're rolling out something to keep you cozy and entertained indoors. Version 0.33 brings a new vehicle, loads of fixes and improvements for vehicles, levels, and gameplay, along with a powerful new tool for the World Editor. Crucial work has also been done under the hood, clearing the path for future improvements.

NEW VEHICLE: Gavril MD-Series

Introducing the Gavril MD-Series, a versatile medium-duty truck that bridges the gap between the D-Series light trucks and the T-Series heavyweights.

This beast is available in both early and late variants, with three cab options and extensive customization possibilities. You can choose from various wheel and tire variants with several different sizes, and pick from a wide range of loading configurations, such as a pickup bed, fifth wheel, two flatbed sizes, and specialized upfits for logging, dumping, cargo boxes, ambulances, and tankers.

For those who crave off-road adventure, the Gavril MD-Series offers four dedicated 4WD configurations, two of which uniquely combine the transfer case rangebox with the gearbox splitter for very low gearing. But that's not all - some upfits now include JATO Rockets with newly updated materials, and paired with the Ram Plow, they transform the truck into a traffic-destroying machine!

Gavril T-Series Remake Part 3

The T-Series remake is reaching its conclusion with this third and final update, which introduces several highly requested features.

Among those is a new, shorter variant of the fifth wheel frame, several interesting axle configurations - such as twin-steer, tri-drive and a passive steering lift axle with rather interesting handling characteristics (lift it before reversing) and, for the racing enthusiasts, we've also added an option for a V8 engine with up to 3000 HP for loaded-truck drag races! And if that's not fast enough, how about adding JATO rockets?

Theis round also brings several new configs, including one with a tridem rear suspension, suitable for steel coil transport, and a twin steer dump truck with better maneuvering. Some existing configurations have also been updated with the addition of more powerful engines, lift axle or twin steer for better handling of heavy loads.

New Vehicle Parts

Ibishu Pessima and Hirochi SBR4 received a number of new configs, aftermarket parts, and fresh liveries. Smaller fixes and improvements were done for several other vehicles, including the Autobello Piccolina, Bruckell Legran, Civetta Scintilla, Hirochi Sunburst, and Soliad Lansdale, among many more, as well as some fixes to the container trailer and several props.

And for those among you who appreciate the finer details: the Porta Potty now spawns in a correct orientation, and the latch issue has been resolved! For a full breakdown, be sure to check the patch notes.

West Coast, USA Improvements

In the levels department, another round of improvements has been done to several areas in West Coast, USA, including the Belasco and Spearleaf Shuffleboard Logistics area, the road network in the Spearleaf Marine Logistics area, the diner, the dirt track, and the tunnel lanes to the island, among others.

We've updated the island refinery entrances, revamped parking, improved island sidewalks with better paths, and replaced highway toll booths with new models. Smaller bug fixes address issues with unused materials, floating objects, and mesh errors. Plus, Chinatown shops now feature accurate Chinese signage. 加油!

Missions

The missions system is getting a refresh with a range of new challenges!

All single-player Scenarios have been converted into missions and we've thoroughly polished the existing missions, including updates to player vehicles. Additionally, seven brand-new missions have been introduced - the Gavril MD-Series now features a Delivery mission in Italy, a Crawl mission in Johnson Valley, and an Evade mission in East Coast, USA. Italy is getting a Time Trial mission, while West Coast, USA receives two Gymkhana (drift) missions, with another added to the Industrial Site.

A brand-new drag racing system has been implemented, usable both in and outside of missions, with customizable drag race types. We’ve added four new drag missions — two in Gridmap V2 and West Coast. The Drag Practice Mode can be entered in freeroam without any loading screen, just approach the stage line and go! Additionally, drag nodes have been added to the Flowgraph system, enabling the creation of drag missions anywhere.

The Drift mission type has undergone extensive improvements. Scoring and combo systems have been fine-tuned, offering a more balanced and rewarding experience. Several new stunt zones have been added, and now it's also possible to add an unlimited number of stunt zones to Drift challenges. Furthermore, the visibility of stunt zones has been drastically improved with an updated drawing method, resulting in far better drift detection accuracy, especially at low speeds.

NEW: Road Architect Tool

This is a powerful addition to the World Editor which will allow you to procedurally design and configure detailed road networks that integrate with other BeamNG features. With Road Architect Tool, you will be able to sculpt terrain using advanced terraforming tools, lay down a variety of roads and junctions, connect them, and then focus on detail work to customize the road network to your exact specifications. The tool already comes with a variety of ready-to-use objects and materials for your customization needs.

Along with the Road Architect Tool, we've made other fixes to the World Editor, including UI changes, improved tooltips, and a dedicated button for dummy materials cleanup.

Sprouting Makeovers in BeamNG.drive v0.32 steam_community_announcements
Greetings, drivers, and welcome to our first big update of 2024! We’ve got some great stuff waiting for you in this update, including a remastered vehicle, the continuing remake of Gavril T-Series, new props, new camera mode, and a ton of fixes and improvements.

Remastered Ibishu BX

First up, we have the artist formerly known as Ibishu 200BX - now the Ibishu BX-Series -, which has undergone a full remaster in this update. This includes fully updated meshes and textures throughout, new bodykits and customization options, and a V8 Swap. We've added the new 'Diana' variants, completely redone the suspension geometry, and turned the old coupe bodystyle into a liftback. The BX-series is getting an additional coupe bodystyle with a brand-new design, and we've doubled the number of playable configurations!

Gavril T-Series Remake Part 2

As part of its continuing remake, the Gavril T-Series is receiving a logging upfit, with two frame variants: a long upfit frame with a short straight frame end, and a medium upfit frame with a medium straight frame end. The new headache rack will be equipped by default on the logging upfit, but is also available for the fifth wheel upfit.

We’ve also added a ton of visual customization options for parts like bumpers, grills, and exhausts. The Gavril T-Series is also getting a low air wig wag warning, more customization options for the 900CUI Belasco diesel engine, beacon lights, and mirror antennas. The Mixer Upfit is being remastered, with a new realistic self-leveling pneumatic suspension. This new system offers single and multi-axle support, mechanical input for the self-leveling control, and a manual ride height override.

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, some of the planned features were not included in the current release. This means that you have more to look forward to in future updates, including a V8 engine, additional frame options, and more axle configurations.

New Trailers, Loads, and Props

We’ve added a new Log Trailer, with two variants - a two-axle 27ft variant and a three-axle 40ft variant, each with an optional headache rack. The 40ft variant is equipped with a fifth wheel, making B-Train configurations possible. You're also getting empty and loaded variants, with either eight or 12 logs of varying types of wood. The new trailers are compatible with the new 4m Logs prop.

In addition to the new trailer, we’ve made some changes to the Dry Van, Flatbed, Small Flatbed, and Tanker trailers, as well as the Trailer Dolly. We’ve made a number of fixes to trailers as well, including fixing the locker position on the three-axle trailer bogie (we know you’ve been worried about that), addressing light-related clipping issues, and we did our best to fix a rare issue that caused trailers to explode when attached to the dolly.

In the props department, two new props have been added. The new Logs prop is compatible with the Log Trailer as well as the T-Series’ new logging upfit, and comes in several variants, including single logs and stacks of between six and 23 logs. The length and diameter of the logs are adjustable, and will affect the logs’ weight, as will the type of wood the logs are made of - there are eight wood types available, each with its own density which will affect the weight of the log. All the logs can float on water.

The new Steel Coil comes in 5, 10, 20, and 30-ton variants, and is excellent for overloading trailers and crushing cars. The size of the coils can be adjusted from the tuning menu when used as a standalone prop, which will affect their weight. The Steel Coil can be loaded on the Flatbed Trailer.

West Coast, USA Improvements

The West Coast, USA map has received further improvements!

We’ve updated the concrete batching plant area, the Quarry, and the Fast Automotive facility. Several floating and collision bugs were hunted down and eliminated without mercy, and we’ve continued the process of updating to PBR by updating some more materials. We’ve added a fuel station next to the logistics garage, reworked the residential area near the movie studio, and reworked the fences of the single houses in the suburbs. We’ve also updated roads and road markings to improve the driving experience, reworked major intersections and highway sections, and installed speed cameras. Big Brother is watching, now and always…

Missions

We’ve added five new missions - Desert Rally Stage and Outlander Valet in Johnson Valley, Prospector’s Return in Utah, Mixed Surface Stage in East Coast USA, and Drop and Dive in West Coast USA - and made a ton of tweaks, changes, fixes, and general polish to missions in general. This includes new anti-cheating barriers in BeamNG Sport Race - Automation Test Track, improved camera paths for Time Trial missions, and much more.

We’ve been hard at work on improving the drifting systems as well. The drift backend has been almost entirely refactored and optimized, which will make future implementations much easier and more robust. We’ve improved drift detection - ‘Drifting’ is now detected sooner than before, which will make chaining drifts significantly easier. Drift scoring has also been improved. The score spread between experienced and beginner drifters has been reduced, which will make it easier to balance drift missions. The scoring will now more accurately reward players for drifting at higher speed, with bigger angles, and near walls. The combo increment has been reduced, and its logic has been changed to reward players for longer drifts.

Drift logic is now always running in the background. Thanks to this, we now have drift-related statistics! Everyone loves statistics, right? We’ve also added an experimental ‘spinout’ logic. When spinning out (or crashing), a “Drift Failed: Cause” message will appear. We’ve also added a ‘Wrong Way’ message if you’re heading in the wrong direction on an A to B drift mission, which will be displayed if the player is heading the wrong direction. To make this experience less stressful, we’ve also removed the timer for these missions.

Vehicle Improvements

All of our cars have received detailed mirror support, while some of the more modern ones have undergone a mirror physics structure revamp to allow them to fold manually without breaking off straight away. We’ve also done some tire work, retuning a number of tires, and added two new wheels - the Civetta Stradale and Civetta Dark Owl 22x12 wheels, with matching tire sizes.

The Autobello Piccolina’s doors will no longer sustain damage when opening wide, and we’ve also fixed a literally unplayable typo in a skin name for the Autobello Stambecco, given it a roof bars option, added body-mounted license plate options, and introduced cargo load options.

We’ve added a couple of new simplified traffic cars: the Bruckell Bastion, Soliad Wendover, Gavril Grand Marshal, Gavril Roamer, Gavril D-Series, and the Gavril H-Series. In addition, we’ve improved the suspension for the ETK I-Series, ETK K-Series, ETK 800-Series, and the Ibishu 200BX. The simplified traffic LeGran has received many fixes, and we've added the wagon and facelift variants. For all traffic cars, we stiffened the tires to improve AI handling and reduce the chances of rollovers, tweaked deformation on head-on crashes and side impacts, and fixed some spiking issues.

We’ve also made improvements and fixes to many other vehicles, like the ETK I- and 800-Series, the Soliad Wendover, and the Soliad Lansdale, and Hirochi Sunburst, among others.

Force Feedback Improvements

We’re constantly looking into ways to make vehicle handling more realistic, and to more transparently transmit the steering rack torques to your steering wheel. For this update, we're glad to announce that some of our ongoing research has led to a minor but noticeable improvement on this front.

Your mileage may vary: for some, this improvement might feel almost imperceptible, while for others it'll be really noticeable. This depends on framerate, steering wheel and settings, vehicle suspension geometry, road surface detail and driving style. The improvements should be most noticeable when trying to catch minor accidental slides, when avoiding tankslappers, and when drifting intentionally. Those should happen more transparently now, helping drive with more confidence than before. Players might also feel slightly reduced vibrations in the wheel, especially when racing normally.

New Engine Sounds!

We've updated the i4 1600cc 'Motorsport' and i4 2000 'Endurance' turbo engine/exhaust, which you'll be able to hear on the BX series for 1600 and 1600 & 2000 on Cherrier, among other engine audio changes. We also introduced water splash sounds and a new way of naming blends for better future-proofing, check the patch notes for more details on that.

Crash Camera

And last, but certainly not least - we’ve added a Crash Cam! Once enabled in the gameplay options, the Crash Cam will automatically capture your crashes in glorious slow-motion. It includes several modes and will select one of them at random. The Crash Cam is currently only available in Freeroam mode, so go check it out and please share any feedback with us in the dedicated forum thread!
