The FF14 Make It Rain Campaign is back for 2026 very soon, and with it comes the most anticipated returning face to the MMORPG since Zero. When Final Fantasy 14 patch 7.5 landed on April 28, some players found an unannounced surprise in their inventories in the form of an incredibly cute otter backpack. FF14 Evercold is shaping up to bring the most dramatic overhaul the MMORPG has seen since launch, from new combat systems to redesigned progression mechanics. We all know that the real endgame is glamour, however. The character creator is getting a major overhaul to take advantage of Dawntrail's graphics update, and there are new ways to hide elements of your gear to change how they look. The elephant in the room, then, is whether we'll be getting more glamour plates. Unfortunately, Game Director Naoki Yoshida has some bad news - but at least he might have been peer pressured into thinking about butt sliders.

What is the FF14 Evercold release date? The FF14 8.0 expansion is the next stage of the MMO's grand adventure, and the start of what game director Naoki 'Yoshi-P' Yoshida is dubbing 'The Godless Realms Saga.' It will see the Warrior of Light and their companions head to the Fourth, one of the many reflections of the Source, and a land facing a devastating flood of ice.

Yoshida has hailed Final Fantasy 14 Evercold as "taking you to the next level." That's both literal, as the in-game level cap of the MMORPG will be going up by ten, but also metaphorical. There are fundamental overhauls across the board, with changes to the weekly rewards system, massive character creation improvements, and even a new way to play every job, called 'Evolved Mode.'

Upcoming expansion FF14 Evercold is about to introduce a completely new way to play every job in the game, and for a lot of them the difference is significant. 'Evolved Mode' transforms each of the game's 21 classes into a fresh form, designed to feel streamlined, more flexible, and with more individual personality. However, you don't have to use it. If you like the way things are right now, 'Reborn Mode' will keep the classic style that you know and love, and it'll continue to be supported, remaining equally viable for completing everything the MMORPG throws your way. During a Fanfest Q&A session, I asked game director Naoki Yoshida when and why he decided to commit to this two-part future.
