Excavation Initiative rewards you for doing what you'd already be doing: playing Overwatch. Throughout the season, you'll earn Loot Boxes simply by logging in, completing challenges, winning games, and staying active week after week. The more you play, the more opportunities you'll have to uncover Base, Epic, and Legendary Loot Boxes packed with rewards. No complicated routes, no hidden catches… just a season-long treasure hunt with Venture leading the way.

Anima Strike Meta Event

Anima Strike is a three-week event that unfolds as you fight your way through the new Tokyo map, where Shion reigns supreme. Conquer daily and weekly challenges to move across the city, discovering Hashimoto, Yokai, and Subway locations, all littered with lore. The deeper you push into Tokyo, the more you uncover, including choices to make on branching paths and fresh rewards to stack each week. Anima Strike is a narrative driven by momentum, told at your pace, your way. Hit the streets from June 16 - July 6!

A new chapter in the Reign of Talon starts here with the arrival of our newest Damage Hero, Shion. As the Hashimoto Clan’s most terrifying elder, Shion brings a dangerous new arsenal to the battlefield with her dual semi-auto pistols and a motorcycle she can crash into her enemies.

Battle through the streets of Tokyo in the all-new Hybrid Map, Neon Junction, filled with nods to Japanese culture and easter eggs around every corner. Tokyo also comes to life in our new Anima Strike Meta Event where you earn new rewards based on which path you choose to go down.

Junkrat’s Loot Hunt turns the June 5-8 weekend into a reward-fueled blast. Every match you play pushes you closer to Loot Boxes, with flexible challenges that let you go all-in or pace yourself. No daily pressure, no nonsense… just explosions, progress, and piles of loot! 

Eight top regional teams are now ready and on their way to Tokyo for Champions Clash!

On May 21 at 8PM PT, the team will be kicking off an epic on stage face-off to see WHO will be our stage 1 finals champions. Tune-in to cheer on your favorite team!

Overwatch 10th Anniversary

The world could always use more Heroes… and after a decade of fighting for a better future, you’re still answering the call. The Overwatch 10th Anniversary is a celebration of you, coming with throwback modes across three weeks, while the entire community works together to unlock rewards. From Classic to Mystery Showdown to Golden, each week revisits a different Overwatch era, paired with Anniversary Loot Boxes designed to be fully completed over time. 4v4 Evolved: All Emre

From April 28 – May 11, eight Emres will spawn in but only one team will claim victory to finish the fight! 4v4 Evolved puts four Emres on one side versus four on the other in a team deathmatch, where you’re all working to prove your tactics are better than the opposing Emre squad. Plus, the kit you’ll all be using is going to be tuned to make everyone a little more lethal, so fights will move quickly and won’t be quiet. All your angles matter and mistakes will be punished fast with earned Emre on Emre eliminations.

Evolve your combat skills by controlling the space, controlling the map, and leveling the playing field, just your Emre team against the other. Practice makes perfect, and victory will depend on the teamwork of every Emre for a fun, focused FPS fight: spawn, engage, adapt, repeat. Go all in on all Emres and see how you stack up in 4v4 Evolved!

New DPS Hero: Sierra

Sierra hits the roster and she’s built different. As Head of Security at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, she defended against Talon, bridging her fight into the present story.

She's also carrying an impactful past—her mother was the first test subject in the Soldier Enhancement Program. Sierra has spent years searching for answers, and the trail leads directly to Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes. She joins Overwatch under one condition: tell her everything they know.
Sierra is upbeat and proud while staying positive, passionate, and able to adapt under pressure. Her driven energy keeps things moving and people rally behind her, on and off the battlefield. Armed with her rifle, a combat drone called Dorothy, and sharp wit for days, you'll help push Overwatch onward to victory.

Operation: Grand Mesa Event

Sierra's arrival comes with a dedicated three-week event set in the aftermath of her stand against Talon. Rather than just showing you her story, Operation: Grand Mesa lets you earn the journey for a stronger sense of who Sierra is and why the location matters. You’ll play your matches and complete curated challenges to unlock lore as you go. And of course, there’s loot to chase.
The event unfolds across four distinct beats that you can track through a unique UI, so you always know how far you are and what's yet to come. Rewards include Voice Lines, an Icon, a Name Card, a rare Title, a Spray, Battle Pass Tier Skips, and Loot Boxes.

Post Match Accolades

Get ready to give credit where it’s due; Post Match Accolades are back!
Post Match Accolades let you recognize impact beyond the battle. After Play of the Game, you’ll have a short window to vote for the teammate or opponent who really stood out, with the MVP getting a dynamic, animated spotlight before the match wraps. You can even choose to join voice chat once the victory lineup appears, for a communal handoff into that MVP moment. Vote for things like great sportsmanship, team player, clutch saves, game-changing pressure… the little things that win matches but don’t always show up in the raw stats and deserve some time to shine too.
It's a unique feature that makes matches feel more personal, prestigious, and more than a score screen.

Antarctic Peninsula Map Rework

The Antarctica Peninsula has been reworked to create cleaner engagements, smooth out team pushes, and make meaningful flank routes throughout the arctic tundra.

Icebreaker now features stronger ship theming, streamlined flanks, and new alternate paths that move naturally toward the point.

Research Station opens its main choke and adds a new backside flank, for better options to push and apply pressure.

•
Underground has been updated with higher ceilings, simplified layouts, and clearer staging areas to improve visibility and overall fight flow.

Mythic Skins

Volted Overdrive Soldier: 76 Hero Skin

Enter a high-voltage future fantasy with Soldier: 76’s first Mythic skin! Volted Overdrive gives you some grit along with sleek cybernetic upgrades across four tiers of customizable effects that let you choose exactly how electric you want to look.

Level 1 unlocks an Ability VFX Toggle that adds a biotech feel to your arsenal.

Level 2 adds two additional hairstyles, for you to dispense justice in style.

Level 3 introduces red/black and white/blue colorways, augmenting your cybernetic details so you can glow with dangerous intent or bright appeal.

Level 4 unlocks the Ambient VFX Toggle, making sparks fly to solidify your Mythic battlefield presence.

Sumi-ichimonji Genji Weapon Skin

Wield ink and steel with Genji’s Mythic Sumi-ichimonji Weapon Skin, the ultimate symbol of strength to cut down your enemies! Blending traditional ink-calligraphy influence with Genji’s classic dragon identity, you'll flaunt a style that feels disciplined and deadly. Four levels will deepen the Mythic, adding movement and reactivity as you become a battlefield blade master.

Level 1 unlocks the weapon, establishing your Mythic presence through unique ink and dragon details.

Level 2 adds reactivity, bringing your weapons to life with flowing splatter effects.

Stadium Report

Stadium will keep its evolution going as Ramattra punches in, and Juno gets reworked for better balance and reliability. Plus, Lijiang Night Market lights things up as a new Control map, full of sharp angles to shake up your strategies. Seasonal resets are being replaced with a decay system for smoother competitive transitions that should feel a bit better overall.
And… Jetpack Cat will be flying into Stadium at midseason, ready to dfjab%srwe8#b$eg!

Perks Mini Refresh

A handful of Heroes will pick up new Perk options this season, giving you a few more ways to play, with a little more flexibility and some fresh options to explore:

Ramattra gains Prolonged Barrier, a Minor Perk that increases Void Barrier’s size and duration by 25%.

•
Pharah gains a new Minor Perk that lets Concussive Blast deal up to 50 explosion damage.

•
Reaper gains Trigger Finger, a new Major Perk that refreshes Dire Triggers cooldown when using an ability and reloading.

•
Soldier: 76 gains Agility Training, a Major Perk that increases Sprint speed by up to 60% after two seconds of sprinting.

•
Mercy gains Double Dose, a Major Perk that gives Flash Heal an additional charge.

In conjunction with these updates, select Heroes will see some Perks moved into their baseline kits to balance out the new additions. More info can be found in our recent Director’s Take: Small Steps, Big Leaps, with further details in the April 14 Patch Notes.

The fight for a better future pushes even higher during Season 2: Summit. Our newest Damage Hero is here with the arrival of Sierra. As Head of Security for Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, Sierra takes pride in protecting those around her, and she does so with an arsenal built for controlling spaces, high and low.

Post-Match Accolades are back, giving you the ability to vote for a match’s MVP. And that’s not the only thing returning! Antarctic Peninsula is also back with new pathways and sightlines to help you in battle.

New Battle Pass and Shop skins are also arriving like the new Spring Fairy skins, Panda Jetpack Cat skin, Sakura Bundle, and the new Season 2 Mythics for both Genji and Soldier: 76.
